At present, there is a growing number of packaging waste, and the technology of recycling is already mature. Under the condition of the state that solid wastes are treated in the direction of reduction, innocuity and resource, it is not only feasible to invest in recycling recycling of packaging waste, but also promote the development of packaging industry.

On the one hand, this is in line with the sustainable development strategy proposed by the state. The environmental protection has strengthened the worries of the development of the packaging industry and opened up a new economic growth point for it.

With the increase of the amount of packaging waste, the cost of waste treatment is rising. It is the general trend to increase the recycling of packaging waste. However, in the process of rapid development of packaging production, there is still a big gap between China and developed countries in the management, disposal and recycling of waste.

First of all, the recycling of packaging materials has obvious economic and ecological benefits. According to the experts, packaging waste can be divided into four categories: paper products, plastic products, glass products and metal products. Packaging waste is mostly renewable resources.

Second, the continuous increase in the output of packaging waste provides adequate production resources for recycling. According to the statistics of the total output of the national packaging industry, there are about 8 million 350 thousand tons of paper packing, 2 million 440 thousand tons of plastic packaging, 4 million 440 thousand tons of glass packaging and 1 million 610 thousand tons of metal packaging. At the same time, these products also grow at a rate of 12. 5% to 30% per year.  Research data show that 1 ton of waste paper can regenerate 0.8 tons of new paper or 0.83 tons of cardboard; 1 ton of waste plastic can regenerate 0.75 tons of diesel oil or 0.6 tons of unleaded gasoline. Thus, there is no need to worry about recycled raw materials.

Thirdly, the technology of packaging waste treatment is becoming more and more mature, and the treated packaging waste has a broad use and a bright market prospect. Waste fast-food boxes can be recycled by fragmentation and harmless treatment mixed with soil or other substrates for soilless or semi-soilless cultivation. The waste plastic oil technology adopts high performance catalyst to "depolymerization" high density polyethylene or polypropylene plastic. It can produce diesel and gasoline, which meets the national standard. The oil production rate is up to 75%. If necessary equipment is installed, liquefied petroleum gas and carbon black can also be recovered. By changing the catalyst, we can also produce toluene, xylene and pure benzene.

In addition, using waste plastics (including PE, PP, PVC, PS) and filled mixtures (including a variety of urban and rural waste such as activated carbon waste, smashed plant and plant waste, weathered coal, humic acid and other powders), the cost of coating is only 300 yuan / ton more than ordinary compound fertilizer. This is an environmental protection project that changes "white pollution" to "green fertilizer", which can absorb a large amount of packaging waste.
